![]() ![]() Would really like to have that function, especially on tv in bedroom. All 3 STB's are labeled Motorola and I don't see anything resembling sleep function on these things. Hopefully not stealing topic, but just got hooked up with Charter tv earlier this week. If updates are missed, especially for weeks at a time, you could come home to a box that won't boot. The box needs to be plugged in, but not needed to be turned on so that it can get updates. Never unplug your box if you go away on vacation! There are server updates that the box needs to get when Spectrum does it's 12am-6am Tuesday morning updates. I would recommend the use of the TV sleep timer remote if you want the TV to auto turn off falling asleep to it. Power was only related to all power with box being plugged in, or no power. Interestingly, the same amount of amperage existed whether the box was on or off. Difference was minute to none.Īlso, they tested was there a difference if you had your cable box plugged in and turned on, or plugged in and turned off. Years ago, a user had a tech measure the amperage concerning the setting if nothing was plugged into the outlet and if the voltage made a difference if AC power setting was on/off. Make sure that AC outlet setting is set to go on and off with the box and not constant on.The AC outlet setting controls only an outlet on the back of some boxes that can be used as an additional outlet. ![]() I’m away so I can’t check my boxes, but I think there is a setting that controls the function of the AC outlet on the box (which I assume the TV is plugged into?). If the All Power or System Button has been programed to control your TV with your box and you are using HDMI cable, I see no reason why Sleep Time should not shut off the TV with the box.Īnyone else have this issue with the Sleep Timer? I would agree with Reds's post. I would suggest switching from Composite Cable and going with HDMI. The Remote is RC122, same as before.Off the top of my head,ĭid the Sleep Timer turn off the TV/Box simultaneously? The 'TV' buttons that work are : channel +-, vol +-, last, mute, and the 0-9 number pad, which I believe is no different from the last box. The TV now shows 'line' when the box is off (I believe the TV used to be on 'channel 3' before). The 'connection' from the set top box to the TV has changed from coax cable to composite (due to the techs not having any boxes capable of coax output). The actual options after selecting Menu are different than before, but they both had/have 'sleep timer'. This is an unfortunate step backwards and I don't know what to do at this point, so any ideas are appreciated. Long story short, we had to change our set top boxes out (from Technicolor to Arris), and now the Menu>Settings>Devices>Sleep Timer only turns the box off and the TV just 'idles' there all night. ![]()
